UK council HQ to receive free electricity from solar

Cambridgeshire District Council is to benefit from solar generated electricity, with developer funding enabling the work to take place. Solar panels on South Cambridgeshire District Council's headquarters roof will supply it with free electricity every day, a spokesman told the BBC.

Installation costs will be met by up to £190,000 of developer funding from a new 950-home development in Cambourne. Funds generated from surplus energy and government subsidies will be used for other "green projects" in the village.
